lemonope Terms of Service
Contents
Effective date: October 25, 2026
Welcome to lemonope. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Lemonope Inc. ("lemonope", "we", "us" or "our") about your use of the lemonope website, web app and any lemonope mobile apps (together, the "Service"). We have added short "In short" notes to help you read them. The notes are not part of the Terms.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Please read section 10 carefully. It requires most disputes to be resolved by individual arbitration instead of in court, and it waives your right to a jury trial and to take part in a class action. You can opt out within 30 days. Sections 7 and 8 also contain important disclaimers and limits on our liability.
1. Our Service
lemonope helps you see and organize your money. You can link your bank and card accounts, import and categorize transactions, set budgets and savings goals, store receipts, find bills and subscriptions, get alerts, and see credit card information with estimated approval odds.
- Linked accounts. lemonope connects to your bank and card accounts through our bank-data partner (currently Plaid Inc.; we may also use Teller). lemonope is read-only: it cannot move money, make payments or open accounts for you.
- Card information and offers. We show credit cards from many issuers, with links to the issuers' or partners' websites.
- Insights and tools. Categories, budgets, income estimates, bill detection, alerts and approval odds are tools to help you understand your money.
- Price. The Service is currently free. If we ever add paid features, we will tell you the price and terms before you are charged, and you will choose whether to buy them.
In short: lemonope is a free, read-only tool for seeing and organizing your money.
2. Your lemonope account
2.1 Who can use lemonope
To create an account, you confirm that:
- you are at least 18 years old and can enter into a binding contract;
- you are opening the account for yourself, to manage your own personal finances (not for a business);
- you live in the United States;
- the information you give us is accurate, and you will keep it up to date;
- we have not previously closed an account of yours for breaking these Terms.
2.2 Keeping your account safe
Keep your password secret, use a strong one, and do not share your account. We recommend turning on 2-step login. We may ask you to confirm a code we email you, for example when you sign up or sign in from a new device. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us right away at support@lemonope.com if you think someone else has used it. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, their terms also apply to that sign-in.
2.3 Linking your accounts
When you link a bank or card account, you authorize lemonope and our bank-data partner to access and transfer your account information on your behalf, and you agree to the partner's own terms and privacy policy (for Plaid: https://plaid.com/legal/#end-user-privacy-policy). You confirm that you are allowed to access every account you link. You can remove a linked account at any time.
2.4 Communications from lemonope
You agree that we may send you notices, disclosures and other communications electronically, by email, push notification or in the app, and that these satisfy any legal requirement that they be in writing. You can choose which optional alerts you receive in Settings. Messages about your account, security and legal notices cannot be turned off while you have an account.
In short: you must be an adult in the US using lemonope for yourself; keep your login safe; you allow us to read the accounts you link; we will contact you electronically.
3. Limits on how the Service can be used
3.1 Estimates, not guarantees
Budgets, categories, income estimates, savings suggestions, alerts and approval odds are estimates based on the data available to us, and they may be incomplete or wrong.
- Approval odds (Excellent, Good, Fair, Low or Not enough data) are our rough estimate from the data in your lemonope account and the credit score range you enter. They are not a credit score, not a pre-approval or pre-qualification, and not an offer of credit. We do not check your credit, and viewing approval odds does not affect your credit score.
- The card issuer decides. Only the issuer decides whether to approve you and on what terms. When you apply, the issuer will usually check your credit, which may affect your credit score.
- Card details change. Issuers change fees, rates, rewards and offers often. Always read the issuer's terms before you apply.
- Account data can be wrong or late. Your data comes from your bank through our bank-data partner. We cannot guarantee it is accurate, complete or up to date; transactions can be delayed, missing, duplicated or miscategorized, and connections can break. Alerts can be late or missed. Do not rely on lemonope alone for due dates, low balances or other time-sensitive matters. Your bank's records are the official record.
3.2 Third-party offers and how we make money
The Service may show credit cards and other products from third parties. We may be paid by card issuers or affiliate partners when you click a link, apply or are approved. This is how we keep lemonope free. Payment never affects your approval odds or the order of cards. See How we make money. Any agreement you make with an issuer is between you and the issuer.
3.3 Not financial, legal or tax advice
lemonope is an information tool. We are not a bank, lender, credit bureau, broker, investment adviser, tax preparer or financial planner, and nothing in the Service is financial, investment, credit, tax or legal advice. You are responsible for your financial decisions. Talk to a qualified professional before making important ones.
3.4 United States only
The Service is designed for people in the United States and works in US dollars. It is offered in several languages for convenience only.
3.5 Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break any law or anyone's rights, or use the Service for fraud;
- link accounts that are not yours or that you are not authorized to access;
- try to get into other users' accounts or data, or into our systems, or test their security without our written permission;
- scrape, copy, resell or commercially exploit the Service or its card catalog, or use bots to access it;
- reverse engineer the Service, except where the law allows it;
- upload viruses or harmful code, or overload or disrupt the Service;
- get around security features, rate limits or account restrictions;
- create accounts in bulk or with false information.
3.6 Links to other sites
The Service links to websites and services we do not control, such as card issuers' sites. When you leave lemonope, that site's terms and privacy policy apply. We are not responsible for third-party products, services, websites or decisions.
In short: everything lemonope shows is an estimate, the issuer decides on any card, we may be paid for card links, we do not give advice, and you agree to use lemonope fairly.
4. Ownership
4.1 Our content
The Service, including its software, design, text, card catalog and logos, belongs to lemonope or its licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, limited, non-transferable, revocable permission to use the Service for your own personal finances under these Terms.
4.2 Our partners' marks
Card names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify their products. Their appearance in lemonope does not mean the owner endorses us.
4.3 Reporting infringement
If you believe something in the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, email support@lemonope.com or write to Lemonope Inc., Attention: Legal, 4915 14th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11219, describing the work, where it appears in the Service, and how to contact you.
In short: lemonope's software and content belong to us; you may use them for your own finances.
5. Your content and feedback
5.1 Your content
"Your content" means what you add to lemonope: receipts, notes, categories, tags, nicknames, budgets, goals and other information. You keep ownership of it. You give us a limited permission to store, process, copy and display it only to run, secure and improve the Service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for copies in backups until they expire.
5.2 Responsibility for your content
Do not upload anything you do not have the right to upload, or anything illegal. You are responsible for your content.
5.3 Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without paying you or owing you anything.
In short: what you add stays yours; we only use it to run lemonope for you.
6. Monitoring and disclosure
We may monitor use of the Service to keep it secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce these Terms. We may access, keep and disclose information about you and your account when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with the law or a valid legal request, to protect the rights, property or safety of lemonope, our users or the public, or to investigate fraud or security problems, as described in the Privacy Policy.
In short: we watch for misuse and will follow the law.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that information from banks, our bank-data partner or card issuers is accurate or complete, or that any card offer or approval odds will lead to approval. Some states do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
In short: we work hard on lemonope, but we cannot promise it will always be right or available.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- lemonope will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, missed payments, late fees, overdraft fees, interest charges, credit decisions or damage to your credit, even if we were told they were possible;
- lemonope's total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $100.
Some states do not allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct.
In short: if something goes wrong, what lemonope owes you is limited.
9. Indemnification
You agree to cover our losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) from claims by others that arise from your breaking these Terms or the law, or from your content, to the extent the law allows.
In short: if your misuse of lemonope causes a claim against us, you are responsible for it.
10. Dispute resolution and arbitration
In short: if we have a dispute, we first try to work it out; if we cannot, it goes to individual arbitration, not court or a class action, unless you opt out within 30 days.
10.1 Generally
You and lemonope agree that any dispute relating to the Service or these Terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, instead of in court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. The arbitrator decides all issues, including whether a dispute must be arbitrated, except as stated below.
10.2 Exceptions
Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies, and either of us may go to court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property.
10.3 Arbitrator and hearing
The arbitration will be heard by one arbitrator. It may be held by video or phone, or in the county where you live.
10.4 Notice and informal resolution
Before starting any claim, email support@lemonope.com (or write to Lemonope Inc., Attention: Legal, 4915 14th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11219) with your name, account email, a description of the problem and what you want. We will try to resolve it informally within 60 days.
10.5 Fees
Fees are paid as the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules provide.
10.6 No class actions or jury trials
You and lemonope may bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative action. The arbitrator may not combine claims of more than one person. You and lemonope both give up the right to a jury trial. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim must be decided in court, not arbitration. If 25 or more similar claims are filed by the same or coordinated lawyers, they will be handled in batches under the AAA's mass arbitration procedures.
10.7 30-day opt-out
You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@lemonope.com within 30 days after you first accept these Terms, with your name, account email and a clear statement that you opt out. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.
10.8 Changes and enforceability
If we change this section, the change will not apply to a dispute we already knew about, and you may reject the change by emailing us within 30 days of it. If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest of it still applies, except as stated in section 10.6.
11. Ending your account
11.1 By you
You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Security > Download or delete my data. Deleting it disconnects your banks and permanently deletes your data, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can download a copy of your data first on the same page.
11.2 By us
We may suspend or close your account, or limit access, if you break these Terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or others, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering the Service. When reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to download your data.
11.3 What continues
Sections 3.1, 3.3, 4, 5.3, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 continue to apply after your account ends.
In short: you can leave any time; we can close accounts that break the rules.
12. General terms
12.1 Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and by the Federal Arbitration Act for section 10. For any dispute that goes to court, you and lemonope agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New York County, New York.
12.2 Entire agreement
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and lemonope about the Service.
12.3 Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date above and, for important changes, tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, the new Terms apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
12.4 Changes to the Service
We may add, change or remove features, or stop the Service, and will give reasonable notice of major changes when we can.
12.5 No waiver
If we do not enforce a part of these Terms, we still have the right to enforce it later.
12.6 Assignment
You may not transfer these Terms. We may transfer them as part of a merger, sale or reorganization.
12.7 Severability
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
12.8 Translations
These Terms are written in English. If a translation conflicts with the English version, the English version controls.
12.9 App stores
If you use a lemonope app downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store's terms also apply to your use of the app.
